The theme of the day ''Better living in the city with information and communication technologies'' made of the Minister of Urban Devlopment and Housing, the natural host of the event. These words are those of the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications held on Tuesday, 1 June 2010 on the occasion of the ceremony(postponed) of the 2010 edition of the International Day of Telecommunication and Information Society(JMTSI 2010) The event which took place in ''Le centre d'encadrement et d'insertion des jeunes en difficulté de Nkomkana'' could not be held on May 17, 2010, due to preparations of the 20th May National day and the celebration of the Unification of Cameroon.
The Nkomkana center will have beforehand housed for almost a week, a cyber room with fifteen computers, where people have had free access to the Internet. Facilities were obtained from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications' partners such as Campost, MTN and Ringo. High on the agenda of the day featured among other activities a mini soccer tournament(in which the Minduh football team participated) and a round table on the theme of the day with panelists such as the Head of the Computer Unit of our ministry, Mr. Ossama François. In the end, the JMTSI 2010 will have not only helped magnify the Government's solidarity, but will have also enabled the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing to reap many dividends. The most salient of these dividends are in the one hand, increasing the legibility and visibility of social missions of our ministerial department through the putting of the Nkomkana center into orbit. On the other hand, the delivery to the center by the African Institute of Computer Science of 60 scholarships(30 in Information and Communication Technologies and Office Automation for youths and 30 in new techniques of Management tools), and Ringo company offered three modems needed for a rapid and easier access to the ICT.
