Encouraging the Turks to invest in the housing sector in Cameroon PDF Print E-mail

ambassadeur_de_turquie_1Low-cost housing needs in Cameroonian cities are enormous. Proof of such needs is the number of slum neighbourhoods in these cities. Turkey faces the same problem, but also has a wealth of experience in the domain. Our country can thus benefit from Turkish experience. The Turkish ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency, Atilay Ersan, reassured the Minister of Urban Development and Housing, M. Clobert Tchatat, of his commitment to encourage Turkish entrepreneurs to invest in the housing sector in our country. This is a sector that is destined to really soar because of a new government policy that seeks to support private real estate development. Minister Tchatat affirmed his readiness to welcome Turkish economic operators that would be willing to engage in the construction of low-cost housing units.

Mr. Clobert Tchatat, the minister of Urban Development and Housing is currently leading to Kampala in Uganda, the cameroonian delegation to the 29th General Assemby work of the Company for housing and territorial shelter in Africa termed "Shelter Afrique". These works which started on sunday, june 13, 2010 and will end on saturday, june 19, 2010 were preceded by a symposium on the theme "Housing policies in Africa". Created in 1982 by african governments, "Shelter Afrique" aims at becoming a powerfull instrument for mobilising technical an financial resources, assigned to finance housing promotion.

This audience felt within the framework of a visit made by the alsacian delegation in our country from May, 29 to June 3, 2010.

imm1-1.jpgYaoundé city centre will soon radiate its beauty.  Remained for a long time as a mortgage pressing on the beautification efforts of the Cameroonian capital, the ministerial building n°1 nicknamed “building of the death” ( due to suppose or real criminal acts perpetrated there), is in the course of completion. It was the representative of Prime Minister, Head of government, Mr. Clobert TCHATAT , the Minister of Urban Development and housing who, by putting-up the first coat of paint, launched the rehabilitation works of this building whose construction process came to stop at the level of finish touches more than 20 years ago while 85% of the work had been done. The task of works completion is now the responsibility of the National Social Insurance Fund (CNPS) witch has a 24 months period to do so.

These words are those of the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications held on Tuesday, 1 June 2010 on the occasion of the ceremony(postponed) of the 2010 edition of the International Day of Telecommunication and Information Society(JMTSI 2010) The event which took place in ''Le centre d'encadrement et d'insertion des jeunes en difficulté de Nkomkana'' could not be held on May 17, 2010, due to preparations of the 20th May National day and the celebration of the Unification of Cameroon.
